Recently had an interesting debate with cousin-in-law about live-in or live-out maid is better. Reason this topic came up was because the Indonesia government are working to implement no live-in Indonesian maid from 2017 onwards. I guess the intention was to ensure the maids have proper working hours and social life. Also, in case of any abuse or unwanted situation happened, the maids have ways to call for help.
I was not debating whether which way it should be but rather have anyone asked the girls themselves what is their preference? Now, please understand I am purely debating from the point as a Malaysian and not about how other countries treat their maid. And the information of how the ME treat their maids, frankly, I hope someone will shoot them.
As Malaysian, although we are not well-off, my parents on several occasion to take on live-in maids. Those days, only readily available are Indonesian maids. Philippine maids are story for the rich back then. And most of this maids, are probably 18 or 19 years old only. It was the first time they have even been out of their village, what more to say to another country. Most times, mom have to teach them how to turn on and off the light switch, use the stove, water pipe and so forth. They are that naive and the idea of them having to fend for themselves outside on the salary that they have, frankly, it is really inviting for trouble. Not to mention the possibility of being cheated...
Anyway, I am sure there are those of us that do prefer live-out maid that only comes certain hour every evening to help out with the housework and daily chores after office work. And I am not denying there are those that abuse their maids but I would think in Malaysia, most of us are basically good people and we treat human as human. We dont expect them to do more than what we are willing to do.
So, at the end, what I been asking over and over again, did we ask what these Indonesian girls what they want? Did anyone ask employers what they want?

STOP IT! STOP CRUELTY TO ANIMALS!
Just look at this animal cruelty! I was almost in tears when I watch the u-tube! How can people be so sick? The beautiful magnificent creature...
Who they trying to cheat when the Formasa representative, Eric Ong, responded by saying the tiger was simply “lazy” and that it was in the tiger’s “nature” to behave inertly. He also denied any possibility that the tiger was sedated.
Do they think we are so stupid that we can't see?

Go join the Facebook Page “Stop Animal Abuse at A' Famosa!” that is created by concerned Malaysian to raise public awareness.
These concerned Malaysians are planning a “Public Awareness Campaign” day-trip to A ‘Famosa Resort on 29 May 2010 at 10:30am to advocate better treatment for wildlife living in captivity. They strongly believe that the livelihood and dignity of wildlife living in captivity is the collective responsibility of all Malaysians.

What to do today?????????
zzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzz!!! YAWN!!!! Sleepy but not sleepy. Hmm.. I guess that sounds more like bored than sleepy huh? Woke up around 10am today and just lying around the living room not doing much. Watched some tv and then babe came downstairs too about half hour later. That means time to move the butt and makes some breakfast for the 2 of us. Simple stuff today, coffee & half boiled eggs. Now he is sitting at his computer and me at my office laptop, each doing our own stuff. The Astro is on to channel 735.
We been asking each other the same question since he is awake. The same famous question everytime weekend is here or any public holiday. The question: WHERE WANNA GO TODAY? Never seem to get answered somehow because either we have no idea what we want to do or one of us is feeling lazy and wants to stay at home. Last weekend were movie-catch-up marathon at home. So, not so sure what to do this long weekend.
The thing is, babe had to work half day tomorrow. So, we cant go anywhere far. Was hoping to pursuade him to go Penang initially but as I said, that is not possible la. So, need to think of another to do. I wonder if babe wanna have a gathering at our place since its Gawai (Harvest Festival) 1 Jun. But that would involve money, money that I really should be saving up in case I need them for my business trips this month.
So, basically, we need to decide where to go for window shopping/ people watching. Or would we rather stay at home and watch movies again. Or is there anything that he need to get from anywhere. I am tempted to bake something but babe as usual, throw cold water at me and told me not to do it la because there is only 2 of us and for sure we can never finish the cake.
Last time, when I bake, I know I can bring some to the office to share because the geng would enjoy them. But it is kinda hard to do that now because, well, for one thing, most of my colleagues are Malay and I really am not sure if they would eat the food I cook/bake because they might feel that it is not halal. Sometimes I got this feeling that they eat the home bake I bring just so as not to upset me? So, no joy in sharing there.
And also I dont want to add to the 'stock' in the fridge now...the fridge is so full of cooked food la. Babe la. Everything also want to eat and ask to cook this and that. When I do, he just eat abit. And sometimes, I try to cook in smaller portion so that we dont have leftovers but babe would ask: How come only cook like that? And he will look as if the food is not enough after we finished eating. SHEESH!
Hhmm..which reminds me, I still have lots kee chang in the fridge too! AIYOOOOOOOOO!!!!

BULL POOP?
10.45pm, Friday - in the living room and blog hopping while babe sleep on the bamboo mat in the living room and watch Shanghai Noon. Yar, the show that has repeated a thousand times. Ok, no a thousand time but at least a few hundred? Dont know why in the world do they repeat some of this movies so many times! As if we dont know or watch it already.
Anyway, babe is suffering from gout pain on his right feet again! He has been in pain since last Saturday and got abit better on Tuesday when he took some anti-inflamation and painkiller that the doctor gave him on Monday when he went to collect his MC. Dont really know what is the matter. Getting kinda worried because he is getting his gout more often in the pass few months. We have been controlling our food and making sure no beef or lamb (which is why I still have so much lamb slices in the freezer!). Mostly we eat chicken and occassional pork nowadays. And he is taking oat every morning except weekend.
His blood pressure has dropped to pretty normal level but somehow the gout just keep coming. We suspect it is the hand held massager that we got from OTO a few months back. It seems that he will get really bad gout everytime he use the massager on the base on his feet. So, we decided to stop using that and see what happen. But in the meantime, he just had to ride out this gout episode till its over! Sigh....So worried about him la! Trying to make him to go exercise with me more. Maybe yoga but now is not a good time to start and join a new yoga session since we might move soon.
Am thinking of moving nearer to where babe is working now since I will most likely be working somewhere near there too in a couple of months. I am still waiting for the bloody offer letter that I have been expecting since Tuesday! No idea why so long, either too many red tapes with many layer of approval or people are just taking their sweet time. (Although the hiring manager actually told me he needs someone in 'yesterday'). I guess he is the only one sensing the urgency? DRATS!! I just hope I am not going in for another cleaning crew job.
Anyway, if I do get this job and accept it, it would mean the logical and cost saving option would be to move nearer to it. At the moment, babe going to work mean:
1) I had to wake up early and arrived office by 7.30am eventhough my official office hour is 9am-6pm
2) Babe had to drive 45minutes just to get to work
3) Average tol per day to and from work is RM10
4) Average petrol per week to and from work is RM80 (this is after petrol price dropped to current level. When it was at its peak, had to pay a whopping RM120-150 per week)
But moving to the new place although would be great because it will deminish all the above and we can get a proper landed place to rent, it would also mean that we will be far away from everything and everyone we know! Now, whenever I want to, I can just drop by at 1U or Ikea or Curve. All this places just minutes drive from my current apartment/condo. It also mean that it is easy to meet up with Tif whenever we want to for dinner or meals. And on top of that, SS2 and Taman Megah is simple affair.
Moving to the new place would mean learning everything new. It is almost a totally new world. I know that I told the interviewers that distance is not a problem. After all, I flew over South China Sea to KL and work. But frankly, the distance scares me. Would I at the spur of the moment decided to drive to 1u for shopping? Would I have the time? Would I find new short cuts from there to Sunway? Or is there any cool movie places? Of course, Tesco, Giant and Carrefour are there but then again, it would not be the same. ARGHH!! Changes changes! How hard it is to accept changes?
But on the positive note, I will out from the dominating COM (you figure out yourself what COM means ok! ^_^) And I will have a more productive life with manageable stress. At least I will get myself back. Yup, the super confident lady that knows EXACTLY what she want to do with her life. One month ago, about now, I wont be able to tell you what I said 30minutes ago is true if COM just ask me the 'are-you-sure' or 'why-you-do-that' question. I know, I shouldnt have let this affect me but try having those comments that makes you feel stupid thrown at you everyday for 1.5yrs... And then tell me it shouldnt affect me!
Anyway, today, the old akak (some1 in HR la) also dropped me a stupid insensitive skype. I was on mc since Wednesday and turned out she decided she wants to talk to me about the change in reporting structure for me, the day that I was down with really bad sorethroat, running nose, teary eyes, i.e. flu. Short of a fever, I would have believe I have the dreaded H1N1 (Luckily its not or else I would be in hospital?) Thursday, still bad, so still on MC. Friday (today) went back to work, saw the email sent to me on Wed by old akak stating that she wanted to see me but I was on MC again (as if I intentionally go on MC or is it better I just go to work and infect everyone?). Decided to pop in her office to talk to her in my super sexy voice and asked if she want to talk now. She told me that she have an interview at 9.15am and told me she will skype me later once she is done.
I say fine. What else could I say right? So, 11.45am, still no skype from her, we went off to lunch. I got back, skype message received at 11.55am, from old akak of course, apologising not able to meet me today since she need to catch the afternoon flight back to Singapore but she will be here on Monday and will meet me then if I am in! BLARDY BULL POOP! (Yes, Bull poop sounds nicer that BS right?) What does she mean with that? She hear me with my flu-strucked voice. Even the vendors are in shocked that I am in office today.
Another good motivator for me to say sayonara eh? To tell you the truth, if it were not for COM, I wouldnt mind staying at all. At the time where other semiconductor companies are retrenching people, they actually gave us bonus and increment. Company sounds stable despite all the capacity problems with the vendors but finding ways to solve the problems are actually very satisfying. Money was good but then again, money isnt everything especially when it starts to effect health and mental state. It aint worth the pain and suffering no matter how much I love this job! (Pain and suffering = high blood pressure, low immunity, hormone inbalance that cause period delay..just to name a few). So definitely not worth it! Correct or not? COLLEK COLLEK! :P
As I was saying in one of my other post, life changing experience this week and even better one next week. Everyday is a lucky day for me because I am letting it happen. And everyday, something good happen because I believe it will happen no matter what. As one of MelancholyThong said give thanks to God, life is good because I can still afford to rent a good apartment, can afford to go out and buy food from the market, still have friends that truly care for me, know love through babe, still can afford to pay crazy prices just 2 simple slices of nyonya kueh. So, give thanks. Oh! And still have job to go to! :P

Saturday morning ranting
YAWN!!! Just woke up 45minutes ago. Well, not really true. I woke up at 6.30 this morning! Yup! Had to la because babe working today. So woke up to make him his oat and milk tea breakfast. And then sit awhile to chat with him before I go back to bed. I think it was roughly 7am by the time my head hit the bed. Wouldnt have woke up if babe's darn handphone didnt make those beeping noise that handphone makes when it running out of battery. SHEESH!
Anyway, I am awake, I look at my kitchen with the intention to clean and re-organise it abit. But then decided, uggh, forget it, breakfast first. So, I am having my coffee with pita bread now while washing Cook's Tour on Astro. I did make myself useful though, I clean whatever 'litter' that babe left around in the living room. Litter= old newspaper, empty ciggie box, empty cups, receipts, old lottery tickets and so on. I am suppose to vacuum and mop the whole place next but for now, I am going to enjoy my breakfast and do a little surfing.
I guess from this moaning and ranting, I HATE housework. I mean, if I have to do it, I will because I cannot stand too long living in a messy house but it just irritating because I didnt know till after living with babe that HE is such a messy person! GGRR!!! I told him pretty much the same thing too and he just gave me his cute smirk and smile. SHEESH! HOW TO get angry at that goofy smile ah? So, in the end, I just decided to clean the house once a week instead of picking up after him everyday. Too tiring la!

SPLATTED CAKE!
I AM SO UPSET!!!!!! The cake I just baked dropped!! Yes, freshly baked chocolate almond cake dropped to the floor. So wasted!! I took it out of the microwave oven and I have not even take 2 steps when the bottom of the cake gave out and the whole cake dropped to the floor and go SPLAT! DAMN DAMN DAMN! A pretty cake with lots of goody in it too!! ARGH!!! Is this a sign that I shouldn't bake another cake ever again???
Babe said I shouldn't buy cheap baking tray because I sometimes will just use those disposable aluminum ones or the metal tray that you can get for less than RM10. But the thing is, this tray is actually cost more than the usual once because it is those removable bottom with non-stick surface! The type that has a clip at the side where you unclip to loosen the side from the bottom and can actually remove the side to reveal the cake. Normally, people use this for delicate cake that you can flip over to take out the cake. I have no idea how come the bottom and the side is so loosely fit now that the bottom can actually give out eventhough I clipped it on properly already.
Sigh! I was thinking to destress by baking something instead end up I feeling upset and lost! Lost in the sense that it is wasted la! Instead of enjoying the fruit of my labour, end up cleaning up the mess made on the floor and the door mat I had in the kitchen. Only about 1/5 of the cake was salvage and the rest goes into the dustbin. I think I must shouted rather loudly too because babe's reaction was rather immediate and he came into the kitchen seeing me frozen in place and staring at the splatted cake on the floor! But come to think of it, it is kinda funny seeing him see me that way! HAHAHA! Ok, I feel much better now :P
So, I am thinking, maybe I should bake some pineapple tart instead? When we came back yesterday, in the walkway, I can actually smell someone cooking or baking something with pineapple jam. Smells really sweet and yummy! I guess that is why I decided to bake something today and since baking a cake is much less time consuming than cookies, I decided to make the chocolate almond cake. ARGGH!!! HMPF! Lesson learned, next time want to use a baking tray that can open at the bottom, must hold the tray at the bottom when carrying it. SHEESH!

I am not going AWOL, I am just homesick...
What in the world am I doing? I have no idea....
A week of doing absolutely NOTHING except eat, sleep and drive slowly without any stress at my hometown has given me a taste of freedom! Yup! Freedom. Which of course (yalar, of course), made me to wish and think again of my dream, to earn enough money doing what I love and working from home! Been throwing ideas around with my friends and colleagues for awhile and I might be able to work something out. I just need to push myself to get it started, i.e. start an online recipe book which will somehow be able to make me some mullah? I got really upset the other day because I realised that some of the recipes that I see in books, newspaper, magazines were similar o some of the recipe that I created for babe to try! Sigh!!!!
Another thing that I have always wanted to do was to write romance novel. I seemed to remember that I do this pretty well too. Well, I am assuming that its good because I get goosebumps when I re-read what I wrote last time. That was when the computer was not a daily household item yet. Yah, writing with long hand and forcing myself to write fast enough to catch up with what is in my mind! And now that I can finally type fast enough to have a good race with my mind, my muse seem to have decided to retired or go into hybernation! DARN! Anyone know how to revive or buy a muse? :P
Anyway, enough nonsense blablablabla from me. Just updating the blog so that everyone know I am alive and well. Just abit lazy to update my blog now. Still going cold-turkey after one week of parent-love at home. Yup, homesick!! I never realised that my parents's place is so homey and welcoming. And the kitchen felt so refreshing and yummy! And fantastic place to cook and create new dishes in! SIGH!!! ~>_<~ Yar, feel like crying! Miss them very much.....how come Kuching cant be like here to Penang? At least I can still drive and see them when I miss them. SIGH! OK lar, enough la..I better stop before I really start crying and babe wonder if I am going into serious depression and send me to the doctors! :P

MJ is dead..so??
Since babe is working, had to wake up super early again today, 6.30am, to prepare his breakie. Normally I would go right back to bed and doze for another few hours. But today, after tossing & turning for 30minutes, I decided to forget it and just wake up. Good thing too because I finished frying beehoon for our lunch by 8am-ish and cleaned up the kitchen. After that, basically just laze around in the living room with a romance novel.
Nothing interesting on the telly. The only thing on is either rerun of some old sitcom or tribute to Michael Jackson. If I am the one holding the remote, I will not bother to watch la. I know alot people gonna kill (but please dont spam my blog..) but what is the big deal!! Ok, so he is the King of Pop. He changed the face of music or something like that. And he passed away. SO? He is still human right? So death is natural course of road for a human being. As far as I know, no one has found the magic pill of immortality yet.
I am not being mean and God rest his soul but...but.....I really DONT GET IT! I guess I am just tone death as babe always tell me. Ok, so I do admire the fact that he was famous and performing for millions (and making lots of mullah) when most of us don't even know what we want to do the next hour. He did have some songs that I like and think is pretty decent but other than that, all this hype and googoo gaga and insane insane ...ah..I dont even have the word for it.
Anyway, apologies to all Michael Jackson fans that came across this posting of mine today. Not my intention to be mean. Death, no matter whose is always sad. So, I am offering my own prayers, may he RIP.

Consumed...
Life is full of twist and turns. Sometimes the road is straight and easy. Sometimes, the road is so full of sharp broken glasses that you have to pick your way through them carefully or else risk being cut. But if you are never experience hurt before, then how would you know what being safe mean? If life is always full of goodness, then how would you know exactly what is the definition of goodness. Of course, to me, this is all nonsense because I for one, am willingly bask in the glory of goodness without any complaint at all especially now.
I am at the point where I couldnt care less about what happen anymore. All I want is out or else I will go crazy. Is this wrong for me to give up? Is it wrong for me to call it quit? I am never a quiter but when life throws me so many(too many) sharp glasses that it is seriously affecting my health, then it is wrong for me to call it quit. Cant God just give a little and help me for once? Have I done something wrong and so sinful that I am being thrown into one challenges after another? Or maybe God has turn his face away from me and do not care anymore? Call me crazy but this is what I feel.
My heart was pounding so heart yesterday because of the sadness that I was feeling. My brain simply cannot think at all. I mean, by right, after the 2hours lesson, my brain should be active and think non stop about it. But the truth it, I cannot think and cannot even talk about what happened to anyone until this morning. I dont even have tears to shed even when I tried. And believe me, I tried last night. But no matter how hard I tried, only a single drop heart wrenching was squeezed out of me. And yet, that did not give me any consolation or relieve that I sought after a good cry. I think I am emotionally empty now for anything that is related to this job.
I am not asking for pity. I am not asking for comforting kind words or looks. I am just pouring my feelings the only way I know how effectively, through writtings. I need a solution and need it fast before it start to consume me from the inside out and leaving me an empty husk. Because that is what I will turn into if heartache and anguish do not take me first.

A True Story?
Not sure how true is this but worth being careful lor:
Dear Friends,
I would like to share a life saving incident that all our loved ones needs to be aware.
Last Saturday, 11th April 2009, my girlfriend and I were in Mid Valley The Gardens for a movie. We finished around 8.40pm. I had parked my car just right above the GSC Signature Cinema on the 5th floor.. As we were getting into our car, we realized that the parking fee had not been paid. We decided to stop by the Auto pay station on the lower parking level to do the payment. We drove 2 floors down and couldn'tt locate the Auto Pay Station. We decided to park our car at 2nd floor wondering if there should be a pay station in the mall at the lobby area. My girlfriend decided to wait in the car as she was on the phone. was walking into the mall looking for an Auto Pay Station, failing to find one, I decided to walk 1 floor down. About minutes time, my girlfriend called me on my mobile phone and she sounded terrified . She was shouting for help. She told me that there is a guy who is trying to get into the car. The guy was trying to get into the car very calmly, pretending getting into his own car. He failed to open and refuses to continue trying as he noticed that she was on the phone calling for help. Luckily, she had locked the door just right after I got out earlier. I run up as quickly as possible to reach her. The moment I reached to the parking area, I saw the guy walking away slowly from the car. He was walking towards the ramp heading to the upper level. As I ran up the ramp, though I could still see him I realized that I was running away from my car again. It could be teamwork just to divert my presence from my car. I got back to my girlfriend quickly to calm her down. We made an official report to the Mid Valley security management to
investigate on the CCTV. It was a lesson learned for us to be more careful in the parking zones. Im happy that my girlfriend is still here with me today. Please be watchful in parking zones.
Tips that we should be aware:
Never leave valuable items or your family members alone in the car at parking location.
Thank you.

Raving Mumbling Groaning about the MAN
OK OK!! I am updating my blog. Not that I dont want to la but been busy since got back from my business trip to Penang. Some more, this weekend will be our quarterly staff meeting on Saturday and on top of that, the lady boss organised a motivational training on Sunday! Of all days...sigh.. This mean that the weekend is basically gone and this week will be super duper long week. Combine with next week, will feel even longer than that. Cant wait till the labour day holiday come, then we have 3days long break. Tempted to take Monday off, then can have 4 days off!
I am seriously in need of a long break to spring clean our home. I feel so depressed when I see the home in its current state but I am just too tired do much spring cleaning and simply procrasinating. I think it has something to do with the fact that my monthly should be due in the next few days. Initially thought I will be able to do it this weekend. Just take one day to clean up the whole place, vacuum, mop, wipe, etc. But looks like not possible.
I told babe that perhaps we should ask someone to come in this weekend and clean the whole place up. I mean I dont mind paying RM50 to the cleaner to do it as long as she does a good job. After that, perhaps will ask the cleaner to come in every 2 weeks once or something like that. But babe disagreed because he felt that RM50 per visit for our tiny place is too expensive. He even jokingly said that I give him the RM50 and he will do the spring cleaning.
Well, if he is serious about it, I definitely dont mind. But knowing him, he will not do it lar. I mean, he dont even put the things back to the original place after using. And he dont put his stuff at the designated place. He prefer to just leave everything on the dining table or coffee table. Initially, I will actually clean up for him and put the things back to its original place. But after doing it for a while and nagging, I just decided to forget it lar. I mean, I am not the only one staying there, so, why in the world do I need to make sure that everything is clean?
I got so upset the day before yesterday and compounded by PMS, I actually said to babe: I never know that when I marry you, this is what I have to do everyday. Then he asked me: So, you mean you regret marrying me la?. Which I responded: Yah!
Mean of me but I want him to know how serious I am about this lor. But I know it wont work because I give in too easily. Usually, I would rather just do it instead of waiting for him to decide to do. Like our place now, most likely I will be the one doing the spring cleaning next weekend.
This morning, on mix.fm, Pedro and Serena C' s topic of discussion was: Man turning into woman when in relationship. According to Pedro and Serena, when man in a relationship, they will usually become more girlish in term of household related stuff. I think they have not met my hubby :P

WHAT THE F5ck!!!!
WAHH FEELING SO DAMN KEK TIOK!!! Finally came back to work yesterday after the dengue-like fever and symptom miracalously went away during the weekend. Then I saw this email from management that basically is the lady boss of this company asking me am I ok since I was on MC for almost a week. And of course, her top most question, am I pregnant. At first, I was touched. After all, one of the top bosses is showing her concern for your health right?
Then today, I received another email from her after I explained to her that the doctor has put me on suspicion of dengue. The email really makes me mad! Imagine getting this:
Good to hear you are well now and no major health issue. Your work performance was slackened by the series of MC but now that you are ok, hope you will get up to speed again.
WAH SEH! It is not as if I intentionally fell sick. I mean, I even came in on Monday morning to try and get some work done despite feeling unwell. Then came in again on Wednesday eventhough I was really aching and dizzy because I know that if I dont come, no one else will be able to do the work! Even go online and call the vendors from home on Thursday because I know some things just cant wait! Only finally pengz on Friday and slept thru the day. And yet...this is what I get??
So demotivating! From now on, everytime MC, will not even bother to go online or do anything. Sheesh! And will work strictly from 9am-6pm only??? Yar right, as if can! This job is a one lady show. If I dont do it, the work will still be waiting for me when I get back and priority will be escalate to the next level. Some work just cant wait. But then, come one la, what have I done or not do that deserve that blardy comment????
Definitely gonna respond to it but need to wait till I am more calm and think it thru. It will be a super crisp and professional response that leaves no room for doubt exactly what I am thinking! Really felt all the hardwork not appreciated at all. So what if I did get pregnant! Is it illegal or against the company rule to get pregnant? Do you think I am irresponsible enough that I will hands-off when I go on maternity leave??? I cannot even hands-off when I go on leave for short period of time. What more to say if it is for 2 months!! GGGRR!!!!!

Why I Hate Valentine's Day
Am I or am I not? Maybe yes but then again, maybe not? But then how can that happened? So sure it wont happen but now it seem it might. Shall I test it out now or next week? Any point to do it now? Am I confusing you? Nope, not going to tell you what it is until I am sure about it myself. No point telling the whole world and then it didn't happen right? After all, if it is true, everyone will know pretty soon enough! Oh, I am confusing you further? GOOD! Friday mar, good to be abit crazy!
By the way, for those of you that have been living under the coconut shell, tomorrow is VALENTINE's DAY! Although I seriously do not know what the big deal is about. I understand that tomorrow is actually a day for lovers to show each other their love or so call reaffirm their love for each other..but..but...aint we suppose to be doing that everyday? Remember the song "If tomorrow never come'? We are suppose to live each day as if there will not a tomorrow and tell the people that we love how much they mean to us!
So, why in the world need to go for super duper hiked up expensive dinner? Noticed that even the places that you will usually go to for a more expensive meal has become even more expensive just because there is a tag that says: VALENTINE SPECIAL. The menu will of course unavoidably be something like this: Starter: Lighting the Passion (which turn out to be fruit or vegetable salad with strawberries?) and Dessert: Love Boat (which of course will turn out to be ONE plate of banana split ice cream?).
I tell you, I really must 'kawtow' (bow) to the creative marketeers that initially comes up with this idea of commercialising Valentine's Day. I mean, can you imagine the marketeers waking up one day and decided, 'Hei! Why don't we rip off the vulnerable guys by telling the girls that if the guys don't get them flowers, chocolate, presents and expensive dinner on Valentine's Day, their husband/boyfriend do not love them' And WHAM!!! the culture of giving flowers and chocolate is created!
Yar, I think you can see that I really dislike the commercialised meaning of Valentine's Day. It does not mean that I dont think you should celebrate the love but rather, I believe there are ways of doing it. Yes, it is good to have a day to remind everyone to cherish the people that their love for in this hectic world, people tend to forget and take things for granted. It does not matter what you give to the person that you love as long as it is given with the heart and not just following the trend. What is the point of doing what everyone else is doing? If that is the case, then it is no longer special right?

Secret Society & Gossip
Dunno what to write about today. All I know is I am so so so so sleepy. Our apartment for the last few nights was super cold. Imagine babe using blanket in the living room while watching Astro. And although we slept so early last night, around 10.30pm, we still feel so hard to wake up this morning. Been like this the last few mornings, so tired and still sleepy. Cant wait till the weekend is here and then we can wake up at anytime we want. Of course, somehow, when weekends are actually here, we just dont feel like sleeping! Human! Never satisfied!
Anyway, I am not sure I am allowed to say this but yesterday, I joined a secret society! I can't say too much about it because if I do, I think the other members will most likely send me to exile or worse, have me executed! Suffice to say that I will fourfold whatever I put in if I managed to lost the most! Am I confusing you? I think this secret society might work provided that all the members are dedicated and ensure that the secrecy is maintained!
After all, it is not easy to all the members having the exact same goal to gain and lost! If this works, at the end of six months, some of us would have gain and lost alot at the same time! (ppstt.. I know I will be the one!! CONFIDENT!! HAHAHA)WAHAHAHA! I think I just made you even more curious. I better not say more or else I will get plenty of msg or bribe:P (p/s: I can be bought!! HAHAHA)
Anyway, because of this secret society and pact, I think I will put my new dress and blouse onhold!!! I saw this dress at Blook when we went there with a colleague. Simply cant get it out of my mind. And there is this blouse that looks simply adorable. Ooo..and also this super blood red tube that I know will makes my *ahem* assets look even more enchanting! I think the dress might look good too because it is the kind that ..oops..errmm..again, enhance certain part of the body :P (SK, I know you are laughing your head off when you read this and wondering if it is possible to further enhance that part!!)
I think I better change the topic before someone start drooling all over the keyboard while imagining! Went to Canton-i for lunch with T yesterday. We ordered noodles with goose leg and a plate of crispy pork to share. And also a pot of chinese tea called pu-er to share too. As usual, after not seeing each other for so long, we have lots of things to catch up on. T and I have been friends forever! So, naturally, we talked about almost anything under the sun.
One of the topic yesterday inevietable turn to the economic situation now and naturally, it turned to our jobs, past and present and well as our bosses, also past and present. Sigh!! This is what people call a small world because after a gossiping, I suddenly realised that my boss is actually sitting 2 tables away from me with 2 of his friends! Shit!! EGAD!! DAMN! LOL! Plenty of unnecessary words came to my mind at the time. Thank god that we didnt talk too much about him or said his name at all.
Come to think of it, I think T talked more about her past bosses while I commented and said, yah, same as mine! LOL! I also said something like: 'While I think he is the nicest guy and have good intention, I do not agree with the way he discipline us!' So, even if he heard it, I doubt it will be too damaging right? This sure teach me not to gossip about people in public places. OR if want to gossip, look front-left-back-right to make sure the person you talking about is not nearby or within hearing distance!
By the way, we end up paying about RM30 each for our lunch @ Canton-i. I think T and I both agreed that the food was not as great as the praises we heard about it. Or maybe because we ordered the wrong stuff?

By the way, we end up paying about RM30 each for our lunch @ Canton-i. I think T and I both agreed that the food was not as great as the praises we heard about it. Or maybe because we ordered the wrong stuff?

Baking Blues and Craving
Sigh, finally decided Chap Goh Meh not going to have any gathering. Going to keep it simple and just between babe and I. Main reason was because I will be working that morning and the other reason was because I am simply too tired to even think about it! HAHA! At first we were thinking of getting the cosway multi-cooker @ RM110+ to do steamboat gathering at our place. Much easier than cooking a whole bunch of dishes like the cny eve feast. But steamboat also need preparations, go buy, clean, etc. Still need time that I might not have since I am working that morning.
So, in the end, decided that perhaps just cook simple chicken soup with mee sua or something like that. Or else we can always cook the mix pork soup with the hu pio again and eat that with bee hoon. EGAD! I just remember, I still have some laksa gravy in the fridge from the CNY Day1 mini open house. Hopefully it has not gone bad since I have not add any coconut milk to it. Me no more laksa paste at home. So, no laksa for awhile. But mom promised she will bring me some when she comes over on the 20 Feb (WOOHOO!)
Hhm, tempted to try baking some pineapple tart this weekend. I wonder if the toaster oven or rice cooker can do this. Keep of thinking of those traditional type of pineapple tart that is round with a dallop of jam on top of it. But instead of making it small like twenty cents coin, thinking of making it really big like the size of my palm! I had those a few times before when one of my ex-colleague's friend actually makes them this way for fun. Lazy way of baking but trust me, very very very tasty and satisfying especially with the super soft flaky crust and the jam that is not too sweet!
Maybe I should wait till Valentine Saturday and make them to suprise babe (assuming that it will cook in the toaster oven lar)! I think I will pan fry the flour first in oil free pan till it is cooked. Then, the toaster oven will be basically to brown them abit and to dry up the pineapple tart slightly. I think that might work! *GRIN* Dont look at me that way lar! I can almost see your one-kind-smile and wondering what is this gal doing. CNY junkfood binge not even over and she is already thinking of baking again.
Cannot blame me lar. I initially thought of getting an oven but after discussing with babe, we decided that to wait since most likely will only use the oven once in a blue moon. Instead, target to save up more to get a good high end microwave oven. The thing is, I have this baking-craving! Usually, I will bake like crazy once a year, i.e. just before CNY. But this year, the only baking I bake is melting moments aka momo aka ghee balls, no-bake cheesecake and chocolate cheesecake which was a no brainer since I use ready-mix chocolate cake from supermarket.
I didnt even make the crispy seaweed although I have the seaweed already because I can't find the popiah skin at the Jusco here. I also bought ALL the ingredient to make horlick layer cake but didnt do them in the end because there is simply not enough time. Stop shaking your head ah! I think only another baking enthusiast can understand how I feel now lor. It is an itch that need to be scratch no matter how hard one tries to ignore it, it is not possible! SIGH!
Must fast fast make babe finish the cookies and titbits at home and bring more to office to share. Then, after finish, I have excuse to bake some more! *GRIN GRIN*

Babbling for the Day
Aiyoo..CNY is less than 2wks away and guess what I have done only? Buy two deco for the door of the apartment and sticked it on. Then babe this morning asked me, this year is the year of the rat meh? ALAMAK! Err..I bought stickers with cute lil rat holding the banner. I forgot lar have the year of the rat. I bought it because it was cute! Damn! Does this mean that I wasted RM6.80 for nothing? Sheesh...
Dunno how else to decorate the apartment actually. Dont feel like buying things that will only last for the CNY and then have to keep until next year. I would rather get something that is more practical. Even if it is just a pot of plant, at least the plant will makes the place looks fresh and yummy all year round and for the rest of its life right? If I get those willow plant or then after a while, it will just die off. Even the fake ones, after the CNY over, it would look weird to remain in the living room.
Other than that, have not gotten any goodies at all too. Going to go shopping abit with babe this weekend. At first was planning to get an oven if it is cheap especially since Harvey Norman is having its electrical warehouse sales this weekend. But I am feeling half hearted about this eventhough my hands are itching to bake. Cant decide between getting and oven or microwave or both! But if I get both, how often will I use the oven? I know I will be using the microwave more than the oven but the fact is, microwave cant bake complicated nice cakes or cookies!
Also, since we are not going back to Kch this year, we didnt get any new clothes ..yet. But I think I might persuade babe to get himself a nice shirt, something that he has always wanted but didnt get because he feel the things are too pricey. Yar, we are both very careful with our spendings. Alot of things to take care and pay ler. Budget budget....
Sorry for sounding so money minded but my boss said something to me on Tuesday that really makes me wake up. If the current generation goes on as it is now, then, one day, our children's childrens who are university graduates might need to go to China or Taiwan to work as maid. Reason? We are having an economy meltdown with more than 10K people retrenched and out of which 8.5K are Malaysian. WD in Kuching, Sarawak can declare it will close down in Mar09 just like that. And yet, alot of people are still not aware and is not sensitive to the effect of this.
And instead of looking for solutions to prevent this from happening again, some people are still saying: 'No, we are not affected by the economy crisis. No, we are not going to retrench. Our economy is very strong'. Or even better, a call NOT to retrench Malaysian but to retrench the foreigners. Geez! I really shivering with fear at this prospect.
Can you imagine how things would be if one day we wake up and see on the news that our RM no longer have value. Lots and lots of factory shutdown and move to more productive and cost effective country to invest in? Where is the world would our children find job? Even university graduates?
Do you ever wonder how Malaysia can prosper from a third world country to a developing country? But in the recent years, the country development seemed to have stagnant? I have to give credit to my boss for this because I agree with him when he says that is because of the way we think, i.e. our mindset bought about by our culture and upbringing. Our parents and forefathers lives in proverty at the time and hence, they are programmed to work hard to earn a living.
Every cents count in their lives and their aim is to work hard at the best that they can so that the company that they work for will continue to prosper so that they will continue to have a job to do. Young people now are very fortunate because most of us have never endure the true hardship in life. Most of us have never suffer true proverty. We have so much luxury in life that we take things for granted.
College students drive a merc to work? In the pass, being able to go to college was a big thing. Being able to drive a motorcycle to college an even bigger thing. But now, a college kid driving a kancil will feel ashame because his friends will laugh at him for driving a cola-can-on-wheels. This is how insensitive the younger generations are to the situation around them.
Even people in my generations are insensitive. They are encased in their own little shell and thinking that if there is not them, then there will not be a product to sell. But if there is no buyer, even if there is a product, who is going to buy them? And if no one buys them, where will the revenue of the company comes from? Drop from sky? Perhaps lor since our government has been so kind to spoonspeed most of us.
Sorry for being so lenghty and talked alot about this. Like my boss, I am starting to worry not only for my own future but for my childrens and their childrens. If the country's mindset do not change, then, one day it will be true what my boss prophesized, i.e. one day, we will find Malaysian university graduates working as maid in China.....

I am sick to my stomach....
I am still reeling and feeling sick to my stomach everything I think of what a human can do to a child (read here if you don't know what I am talking about). I told babe about this last night and his first reaction was, "Are you sure this is real?". He too felt that it is impossible anyone can do such things to a baby! And to make matter worse, no one seems to care enough to stop it! It just send chills down my spine how anyone can be so blind to all those injuries.
A social case worker and she is totally BLIND to what has happened to the babies. What in the world is the social worker doing house visits for then? Babe said that the social worker there is paid by govt, so they don't care and work like our gvot? If yes, then, that is sad because an innocent child have been suffering for more a year and half of his life at a crazy madman hand. That is the only way I can describe the stepfather. Even that description only say 1% of what I think he is. No words is enough to tell you how horrified I am still feeling about this.
Tell me your heart did not cringe and ache when reading thru the list of injuries that they found on the baby:

- SLICED off the tot’s fingertips with a Stanley knife and wrenched off his little nails with pliers.
- SMACKED his private parts with a shoe.
- PRESSED down on his windpipe so hard he turned blue.
- BIT the tot all over to ‘train’ the family’s vicious dogs to attack.
- DROPPED him 6ft onto the floor.
- GRABBED him by the throat and tossed him into his cot,
- RAMMED a bottle into his mouth so hard it cut his lips.

Short Talk: OH MY GOD!
I am so disgusted with the things that a person can do?? To inflict such horrible things to another human being.....worse, a child!!
I am still in shock after reading it that I cannot write anything about it. Read about what I mean here: http://zoopslife.com/the-hidden-horror-behind-a-story-that-shocked-the-nation/

8% or 11%??
I got this off the an email that I received that further confirmed my decision to stick to 11% instead of reducing my EPF contribution to 8%. For some, the 3% might seem like alot of money at first but after seeing the below calculation, perhaps it would be a good idea to reconsider and fill up the form to keep the contribution at 11%?
Assume monthly basic salary is RM4000 for easier calculation.
- If your monthly EPF contribution is 11% ( RM440 ), taxable income = RM3560, income tax payable per month= RM77.
- If your monthly EPF contribution is 8% ( RM320 ), taxable income = RM3680, income tax payable per month = RM109.
So, 11% to 8% means that you get extra RM120 on your gross income, but after deducting the income tax payable per month of RM109, you are actually only getting RM11 extra monthly. In today high priced market, what do you get for RM11? A lunch meal at the economy rice corner for one and a drink perhaps. The reduction in EPF contribution is suppose to boost up the slow-down market, but from this example we see that the money does not go into the market. Instead the money goes direct into the government's pocket through the greater amount of income tax that we will have to pay. Obviously this measure does not help the market at all. So, please tell me again what is the purpose of the VOLUNTARY reduction?

Please DUN kill the messager...
I am so pissed off! I mean being blamed for pushing them when it is their fault for not keeping the committed schedule!? If I am the customer, I would not be as gentle. All we are asking for is for update and to please keep to the schedule. Don't they realised the chain effect whatever action they take will cause? After begging and shouting and struggling with the vendors to get the best support from them, it might all come to nothing because the commit cannot be met.
I admit that I do not understand what is the problem since it is all technical. I know that they are under crazy pressure to get the thing out, working and on time. But the thing is, SO ARE WE! We are the one that have to face the customers who are constantly asking for updates. All we want is honest answer whether you can or cannot meet the date. If cannot, then please tell me why and that you have done more than what is possible to meet the date.
We are human, if we really can't, I will go to the customer and tell them, I am sorry, we have tried but there is not way to meet the schedule. Or, let me know what is the next best date so that I can think of alternatives to try to pull some more strings. Do you guys think it is fun? Or that it is fun to say "SORRY" to customer? Or that it is easy to answer the customer and tell them cannot be done!? Do you think I enjoy juggling and begging from the vendors to give us more support??? No, it is not enjoyable at all.
I am trying to do my job. So, please go and do yours. If you are not happy or satisfied, tell your boss. Don't come and blame me for putting pressure on you. It is your boss decision to pressure you or not. I can only push and request your boss to deliver on schedule. But at the end of the day, if your boss decided that it is not do-able, then he will tell us so that we will tell the customer. If he decided to pressure you guys, then it must be do-able? So, don't blame me. I am just the liaison between the customer and internal people. So, don't shoot the person carrying the message!
Sigh! OK! I think I got that out of my system. I guess I should be damn proud of myself since I was extremely calm and polite (at least, I think that I am) and not let myself get into non-constructive situation. I almost damn near started arguing and wham back at the fella to give the fella a piece of my mind! It still irks me how some people can be so narrow minded. I guess this is all because they are so stressed? People that are stressed can say anything yah????
SIGH!!!!!!!!This job sucks! I know that I basically need to be the meanest person around when things goes wrong or do not meet the required schedule. I am basically the one that 'shout', 'scream' and/or 'beg' so that I can satisfy the customer requirement. I am the one that pull strings and pressure my colleagues to make sure that they meet the schedule. And can be extremely harsh when there is a potential miss in schedule. This is the cons of the work.
The pros? Well, in the middle of all the juggling act, the pressure, the challenges and craziness, there are something good that I can say about this job. Job satisfaction for achieving the required delivery schedule and quantity. The experience gained, the adreanaline rush and ermm...power I guess, does makes a lethally addictive thing. Why else do you guys think people like me stay in the same job (albeit different company). We just love the rush!! hahaha..
