Superwoman?

I was raving and ranting to Rose just now how come when the man got married, they expect their wife to take over the household chores like ironing, washing, cooking which the man were able to do perfectly when they are bachelor. I mean, if the purpose of getting a wife is so that the wife can serve the husband like that, then men should just think of hiring a maid. At least the maid get paid a salary and can quit whenever she want..bluek:P hahaha..

Of course, I am not saying all men are like that. There are of course a few men out there that help their wife religiously with the household chores. And no, this men are not gays. They just happen to be the modern time hyper-sensitive new age type of guy. However, sad to say, so far, I have not met a single man that is actually the new age type. For example, my dad, as much as I love him I sometimes feel irritated because my dad is a big time couch potato.

Yah, I admit. Dad's main job everyday if not at the office would be sitting in front of the tv and will ask either mom or me to do everything for him. Including getting him a glass of water from the kitchen and even passing him his medicine from the table that is just 5 feet away from him. (Most of the time, I would either be in the 2nd living room or my bedroom or kitchen and he will ask girl, where my medicine?) . Dad would do the same to mom and sometimes mom got so irritated that she will tell dad that she is tired and go take it himself. But mostly mom will just do whatever dad ask and complain to me..egad!

And then there is my babe of course. Even before I am there, whenever I tell him I wont do this and that because I hate them (for example ironing), then he will ask then why I go to KL if not to take care of him. And then I ask him, who take care of me. He will say yourself lar. hmmpff! I know he is joking but I still feel kek tiok! Of course irritated when being told that he want me there because need someone more or less like a housemaid. Yah yah, I know he was joking but I dont mean I have to like the joke right?

Dont care, we women must stand united and be firmed. After all, this is not like in the olden days when the husband is the sole bread owner and is responsible for all the expenses of the household. Now, most family is dual income, i.e. both parents working and contribute towards the household expenses. In the old days, the husband might have a valid excuse and say that he is tired from working whole day while the wife just stay at home. So the household chores & raising of kids responsibilities belong to the wife fully. But now, what other excuse is there? (To be frank, I think becoming a full-time housewife is even more hardwork than working outside).

So, why in the world does the household chores need to fall to the lap of the woman? Why cant men also take part in ironing (including their wife's clothes)? If there is any men out there that can give me a good rational excuse for not sharing household chores, I sure like to know...

p.s. Ok, back to doing my report now that I already clear my brain and wash my eyes:P

Jen! I have to agree with u absolutely! I dont know why men expect too much from us, expecting us to be like superwomen, doing all those works for them! Same in my household too!

Hey Jen, I help my wife with all the chores, like ironing, cooking, washing, sweeping, etc, etc, etc ... I think the burden of household work should be shared, especially so when one is married.

I am lucky my hubby helps me with our house chores. He did all the groceries shopping and cook 3 or 4 times a week. Most men in my family including my father share their household chores but I also have one uncle with a couch potato type. He had never cooked even a simple meal for himself. :-((

Jen, I agree too!! ...

Well, me and bf got talked jokingly about this and we set that each person cooks equally and on sun eat outside .. hahahahaha ... also the washing, etc, etc .. kekeke ...

but, still there is some guys which will never do any house work ... thinking they are too cool and doing housework would spoil their reputation!!

Billy's mom,
Lucky u! My babe is already complaining that most likely when I start work in KL, I might not have the time to cook for us..hhmm..so I hinted that since he shud be the one arriving home earlier, then he shud cook....

Didi,
I dont think it is their reputation they are worried about. Some just have the mindset that girls should be the one serving their husband....

I also agree with you. At times when my hub asked me to do so many things I will get really mad and will tell him off to do it himself. I am not a superwoman too. Got kids to take care off, got to work and now do I need to do all the housework by myself. No way man.
