Live in our Live out
I was not debating whether which way it should be but rather have anyone asked the girls themselves what is their preference? Now, please understand I am purely debating from the point as a Malaysian and not about how other countries treat their maid. And the information of how the ME treat their maids, frankly, I hope someone will shoot them.
As Malaysian, although we are not well-off, my parents on several occasion to take on live-in maids. Those days, only readily available are Indonesian maids. Philippine maids are story for the rich back then. And most of this maids, are probably 18 or 19 years old only. It was the first time they have even been out of their village, what more to say to another country. Most times, mom have to teach them how to turn on and off the light switch, use the stove, water pipe and so forth. They are that naive and the idea of them having to fend for themselves outside on the salary that they have, frankly, it is really inviting for trouble. Not to mention the possibility of being cheated...
Anyway, I am sure there are those of us that do prefer live-out maid that only comes certain hour every evening to help out with the housework and daily chores after office work. And I am not denying there are those that abuse their maids but I would think in Malaysia, most of us are basically good people and we treat human as human. We dont expect them to do more than what we are willing to do.
So, at the end, what I been asking over and over again, did we ask what these Indonesian girls what they want? Did anyone ask employers what they want?

Starting Up Again!
As this is the first post, I guess it make sense to share what has happened in the last few years. My baby girl is no longer a baby. As she like to remind me and her daddy, she is a YOUNG LADY now. Not even a little girl she says. But truth is, she is a real prima donna at 4.5 years old. She started pre-school last year and now she is actually in 1st year of kindergarden and counts to 100! Do addition, subtraction, read, love ballet and singing and dancing and TALKING! Love to pretend she is a teacher and tell the students, SIT DOWN! She sound very convincing too and have us all in stitches. She has her temper though and we are still working this out and helping her to control them.
And, she love her baby brother very much! Yep! we decided to have #2 when our young lady turns 3. And sometimes, I would even say this young lady loves her brother even more than anyone else. She used to say she cant wait for her brother to grow up so that they can play together. Well, the little boy is now 1 year 2 month old.
Brother love to scream! And he is really the complete opposite of young lady. While young lady is very ladylike, soft and gentle, brother is rough, naughty and actually CLIMB everywhere by the age of 9 months . Not to mention eating porridge by 4.5 months old. He has plenty of teeth and love eating chicken and meat! He started to walk a few steps now and I am expecting anytime he will start to run everywhere and that is when his kakak will have a fine time trying to chase him and making sure he dont get into trouble.
But for now, hubby and I am enjoying just the 2 of us days since the kids and housemaid are back in hometown with our parents until we go back to pick them up again. :)

Lord..Give me strength and wisdom..
I can only try to shield and prevent unwanted things from happening and cause more pain to my parents in the future. I wish I have the means and ability to move my parents and handicap sister to KL with me, away from all this mess. Maybe the maternal instinct in me is kicking into overdrive.
But you can’t blame me because it is really hard for me to believe that someone will willingly sacrifice so much and family is as generous as this. Not without hidden agenda or intention. My bro might think he is being noble and be responsible, but to me, little did he know, he is being manipulated and some how, some way, I need to stop this manipulation from spreading to my parents…somehow……………….Lord give me the wisdom and power to be wise and do the right thing….

10 years!!
Today is EXACTLY 10 years since babe and I started dating. Yep, it was that long ago! Let me see, that would mean I just turned 23 and he 25! Wah, a decade ago. HAHA! And yes, this is going to be a mushy romantic posting. So, if you are allergic to romance, please turn away now and go no further! I will not be responsible for any heartache due to overdose of lovey doveyness! *GRIN*
As I was saying, today is EXACTLY 10 years since we started out as boyfriend and girlfriend. It is rather funny actually how we started. It all started when I have a self declared God-brother. Those were the days when I was still so young and adventurous. So, when this godbro of mine said he knows someone that his gut is telling him is the one for me, I just couldnt resist. After all, what is the harm? No harm to 'adopt' godbro#2.
Anyway, as much as I like to say that it was love-at-first-sight, well, it of sort. Babe had this really goofy cute panda look at the time. Due to the nature of his job then, he has this panda eyes (nice way of saying puffy dark eye bag la!! :P) So, we chatted and talked. Then chatted some more after I go back.
I remember one really funny incident where he called me super late at night and I must be in my REM sleep because I do not remember it at all the next day until he told me when I complained why he didnt call as he had promised last night. That was we just started to get to know each other. Talk about embarrassing things yah!
Anyway, from then on, we actually went out a few times without my godbro or his friends knowing. (The first few times were godbro bringing me to join them at parties). We of course being sneaky and not everyone else getting a free show from our romance, decided not to tell them until one fateful day. By then, his cousin was suspecting something is up because he would dressed up (well dressed better than usual lar) when going out.
*Smiling & sighing contently* OK OK! Enough la. Later you guys start to vomit from all the sweetness! HAHA! Just want to share my happiness & contentment abit ^_^

I am not going AWOL, I am just homesick...
A week of doing absolutely NOTHING except eat, sleep and drive slowly without any stress at my hometown has given me a taste of freedom! Yup! Freedom. Which of course (yalar, of course), made me to wish and think again of my dream, to earn enough money doing what I love and working from home! Been throwing ideas around with my friends and colleagues for awhile and I might be able to work something out. I just need to push myself to get it started, i.e. start an online recipe book which will somehow be able to make me some mullah? I got really upset the other day because I realised that some of the recipes that I see in books, newspaper, magazines were similar o some of the recipe that I created for babe to try! Sigh!!!!
Another thing that I have always wanted to do was to write romance novel. I seemed to remember that I do this pretty well too. Well, I am assuming that its good because I get goosebumps when I re-read what I wrote last time. That was when the computer was not a daily household item yet. Yah, writing with long hand and forcing myself to write fast enough to catch up with what is in my mind! And now that I can finally type fast enough to have a good race with my mind, my muse seem to have decided to retired or go into hybernation! DARN! Anyone know how to revive or buy a muse? :P
Anyway, enough nonsense blablablabla from me. Just updating the blog so that everyone know I am alive and well. Just abit lazy to update my blog now. Still going cold-turkey after one week of parent-love at home. Yup, homesick!! I never realised that my parents's place is so homey and welcoming. And the kitchen felt so refreshing and yummy! And fantastic place to cook and create new dishes in! SIGH!!! ~>_<~ Yar, feel like crying! Miss them very much.....how come Kuching cant be like here to Penang? At least I can still drive and see them when I miss them. SIGH! OK lar, enough la..I better stop before I really start crying and babe wonder if I am going into serious depression and send me to the doctors! :P

Something unexpected happened!
He brought us to a road side shop that serve mainly roti baker (toast) and soft boiled eggs. Later I found out that the shop is more than 30years old already, pass down from generation to generation. Frankly speaking, I don't taste anything different with the toast and eggs. (Sorry if I offended anyone yah!). Anyway, we left Penang at around 8.40am and reach the fab around 9.40am. Then the whole day was meetings meetings meetings and more meetings. Tiring and not much achievement from the meetings. The only thing that I am happy about is that my boss also finally understand that it is not me not working to get more capacity from the fab but it is really the fab cannot (or dun want to) give more capacity because they have orders 2x of their capacity!
We actually left the fab 2 hours earlier than the 6pm that we planned. 1 hour trip to reach our hotel, check in, then we went for early dinner (had assam curry fish head! YUMMY!) and walked for about 1km to look for atm machine. Then walked another 1km back to the hotel. Stayed in for awhile then I got bored and decided to venture out along gurney drive to see if I can find any durian! hehe..I saw a shop selling some when I was with boss walking to our dinner. But sad to say, I cant find any stalls at all after that. I keep seeing people eating durians along the seaside but no matter how hard I look, I cant find anyone selling durians! Anyway, plan to venture out again later to see if I can get some. But..ermm..will I get banned from boarding the plane from smelling like durian?????
Anyway, something rather interesting happened yesterday at LCCT. Since the flight was so early and we both have no check in bags, we have checked in online the day before. And I thought can go into boarding hall straight away since oredi check in online n me no check in bag. Who knows, when I tried to go into the boarding hall, the security guard therenicely informed me that I must go counter 68 to get the print out chop. Sheesh, like that might as well no need to check in online right? Still have to queue also!
Frustrated but no choice since I only have half hour before boarding, I went to the counter and queue..long queue. Suddenly I realised that this African young guy was staring straight at me, into my eyes in fact. First thought that came to my mind was that this guy was a student at the college that I used to work in last time. But as hard as I tried, I cant place him anywhere. So, since I dont know him, I break eye contact thinking he must have mistaken me for someone else. Or he is actually looking at someone behind me. Then he suddenly, he came close to me and say: ni heng piaw liang (That is in mandarin: You are very pretty). I think I almost fainted when I hear that and again, I ignored him because number 1, I am already very late and number 2, I dont entertain strangers. Again, I looked away and I heard him telling his friends she must be mongolian. (SHEESH!)
I think he somehow realised that I can speak English because suddenly he asked: Excuse me, do you speak English. Me being a nice kind person, thought maybe he wanna ask for help or something lor...so i say yes. After all, he was obviously a kid in foreign country and I was thinking perhaps he dont know what he just said in mandarin or something like that. But I think I should have continue to ignored him because the moment i said yes, he say oh good!! And started to ask me where I am from...I of course replied Malaysia. Being polite, I asked back, where he from, michigan, US.Tthen he say he is going to Indonesia to work and transit in LCCT, before that, he was working in China (which explain his attempt to speak Mandarin).
He also explained that he actually want to complain because AirAsia tells him he have to pay for his baggage again when he tries to check in at LCCT but his school tell him no need. And that he called his embassy for help and was promptly informed by his embassy that AA soldhim ticket illegally because apparrently he must have a ticket back to US from Malaysia tooor else it would be illegal. Intridging and I wished him all the best of luck to convince AA personnel that.
Then suddenly he say, If I have known Malaysia have such pretty girl like you, 1 would have come sooner. (OMG! SO CHEESY!!!). I have no idea how to respond to that and just smile and looked away. It is just such a lowdown cheesy pick up line that I just refuse to dignify it by answering. Then he continued again a minute later and said you are really a cute lil girl. ARGH!! Where in the world did this kid come from? Jiak lak!! And he just have to continue and say, being so cute, you must have lots of bf. By then, I was not only super late but I was really lazy to entertain a kid, so, I told him, I am married and that I am not lil anymore, I am >30 years old. And guess what was his response to that? An attempt to look cute by giving me a puppy eye look! GAWD!!!!!!
Thank god it was finally my turn at the counter. Geez, in a million years, I will never imagine myself in a situation being picked up by a young African-American. He must be what, in his early 20s? Simply not interested at all. If he had been a more matured Englishman..now, that would be another story! HAHA! But it was a good laugh and definitely a good way to start the day of battle with the fab! Good for the ego you know! HAHA!

The dreaded d-fever?
The doc start to get worried because there were not reason for the sudden fever and decided to put me on alert of dengue fever. Told me to come back on Saturday for blood test. And to be sure that it is not some mysterious infection that looks like dengue fever, he gave me some super strong antibiotics with strict instruction to take it at the exact same time for the next three days. Also gave me ponstan for the bodyache (or I should say bone ache!) and headache. He also told me to continue taking the paracetamol (or panadol) for the fever.
Also gave me actacid pills because at that point, with my lost in appetite, my gastric problem is manifesting itself again. For the last few days, been drinking milo and eating plain white bread. Even having to force myself to finish 2 slices of white bread so that I can have the medicine without gastric. Even babe noticed how little food I am taking. I am telling you, this is when I know that I am seriously sick!
Anyway, went home, took everything one-go at around 8pm-ish and snuggle under 2 thick blankets in the living room. The blankets was not much help because I was still shivering with cold but I can feel my head, breath and mouth burning. I only felt slightly better after a couple of hours with the wet towels over my head. I really start to get worried at around 11pm-ish when I start to sweat like crazy. Definitely sympthoms of dengue fever!
To make matter worse, my right eyes start to swell up like the goldfish! It seems that I am allergic to one of the medicine that the doc gave. Seriously suspected ponstan. By midnight, no other choice than to swallow one of the allergic pills that I keep with me in my purse at all time. Yar, I have problem with some medication and seafood. And last year, realised that I am super sensitive to cat's fur too. So, yah, the allergic pills go everywhere with me.
The night was really horrible for me and it is a good thing that I decided to sleep in the living room instead of bedroom with babe or else he for sure will not be getting any sleep. I was awake half the night running to the loo, suffering from diarrhea and nausea. The other half of the night, I was either shivering under 2 layers of blankets or throwing everything off sweating like crazy! By the time babe is awake, I know I must looked really bad because babe looks relunctant to go to work.
Friday, sleep almost the whole day. No food and I am force feeding myself as much liquid as possible. Took paracetamol to ward off the fever and go back to sleep. I cannot even bring myself to think or worry about work. All I want to do is sleep. The whole day too, the chills and sweat cycle continue. Then suddenly, at around 6pm, it seems that it is all over. I can even get up to clean the dishes which is left piling up everywhere! (felt like kicking babe for this..can I??)
p/s: Friends (you know who you are), thanks for your concern! I am definitely feeling the love here and really appreciate if especially since I am so far away from my mom & dad. Didnt tell my parents about any of this since I dont want to worry them. Mom & Dad might actually take the next flight here if there knew! *Sniff sniff*

Wishing for a big big big big car!
If we get a taxi to come and pick them up, not sure how much the taxi will charge and I don't feel nice about letting them go to the airport alone. I rather send them and help them check in together. Not nice bah to let 2 old people and my sis in the wheelchair to go airport on their own and the wrestle with the bags once at the airport. They have at least 3 bags on wheels, 1 box small box and perhaps another box. That plus the wheelchair! I am thinking again, this wont fit into my car lar. Time like this, I wish I have something big like the Estima or Innova!
Alternatively, we can call for the my usual taxi uncle and we travel to KLIA in 2 cars. Of course, this mean that babe MUST come back on time on Monday and be home by 6.30pm the latest. Hard to predict and very risky because one thing I learned since I moved here is that the traffic is very unpredictable. Haiyaaaaaa...why they book flight on Monday one!

LONG LONG LONG WEEKEND
Anyway, we finally arrived home around 10pm-ish. After unpack and get the sleeping arrangements sorted out, we went to bed around midnight. The next day, Saturday, spent the day laze around during the daytime especially since it was so hot outside. Bring them to 1u for walk around dinner. By the time we reached home, it was already almost 11pm. So, again, get ready for bed and only finally sleep around midnight.
Next day, Sunday, we woke up and have Yong Taufu brunch at a shop in SS2. Cannot remember the name but the food was so-so only. Then we drove up to Genting. Took us almost an hour plus just to drive up and the experience was really scary. This is actually the first time that babe and I ever drive ourselves up to Genting. Previously, we will usually take the bus or taxi. So, I can imagine the car straining just to carry the 5 of us not-so-small-size people up the steep slope.
Once there, check-in took about 45minutes. After check in, dad immediately went to the casino while babe, mom, sis and I went for a walk and early dinner. We went into the casino too after that and spend our time there till around 9pm. Then, mom, sis and I went back to the room. After mom and sis sleep, I decided to go back to the casino to join babe lar. After all, it is not often that I come to the casino and end up get cooped up in the hotel room because fall sick! It was a good experience. Win some and lose some. In the end, lost about RM200.
Babe and I only went back to the room to sleep around 4.30am. Dad was even more terror! He only came back at around 6am-ish and didn't even sleep. Mom, dad and sis went for breakfast after that while babe and I continue our sleep in peace. They came back around 9am-ish. Parents decided to go to casino again. Babe was still sleeping. So, I stayed in the room with sis and him. After babe woke up, parents still not back. So, we decided to go and search for food.
Mom called me around 11am-ish and we ate at the KFC. That was really a horrible experience. I think the KFC there no quality control! The taste was abit weird and even the hot & spicy does not look like the usual ones! I for one will never go to KFC there ever again. I rather bring bread or something if we go again! We went back to the room again after that to pack up and check out. Dad came back to the room around 12.30pm.
Babe and I decided we want to go for a short round at the casino again. Something about testing a theory that we have. Wont tell you guys what it is or else you will call me crazy or something. Maybe one day, I will tell you guys and see what you all say. But for now, it is a secret. Anyway, we finally left Genting at around 3pm and reached home around 5pm. Unpacked, rest and then we went out for dinner.
Tuesday, I was still on leave but had to wake up at 6.30am as I need to send babe to work so that we can use the car for the day. Dad have a few appointments set. Left the house at 7am and I only reached home at 9am. And then left the house again at 10am. This time with dad, mom and sis. First destination, somewhere near Mines Wonderland. Nope, we didnt go to Mines but some shop lots behind it. Dad had his busienss appointment and then the people he met up bring us all for lunch.
Then next appointment is at Jln Perubatan. So, drove all the way. Took about an hour to reach the place. Waited while dad have his meeting till around 4.30pm. Then we drove all the way to Klang to pick babe up. That took another hour because of the traffic jam caused by the rain. Got babe to drive us all back home from his office and I sat at the back and promptly fall asleep. Babe said I was snoring :(
Reached home at around 6.30pm. Everyone shower and change. Then we went out to Shogun at 1u for dinner since it was mom's birthday. After dinner around 9.45pm, we went to Jusco to get some groceries because I will be working the next day. Need to make sure they have food at home because they wont be having any transport to go around while we are at work. Again, we only finally reached home around 11pm and sleep around midnight!
Really really really tired!!! But it was fun lar seeing my parents and sis enjoy themselves. But I only realised yesterday that I did a miscalculation. They are going back this coming Monday and I somehow thought they are going back the following Monday. Mean that I still have this week and next week to bring them around. But instead, only left Friday, Saturday, Sunday and part of Monday. DAMN! If I know, I would have applied for Friday and next Monday off together with the last Friday to Tuesday.
So now, understandably, boss did not approved my leave for Friday (tomorrow) but ok for Monday. Instead, he said I can go back earlier tomorrow once I finished up all my work for the day. So, that is something lar. Maybe I can go back around 2-3pm. Then at least can spend more time with them. I am wondering if I should send babe to work tomorrow and Saturday morning too so that we will at least have transport to use. But that would mean I have make the 45min drive to send and pick him from work.
Hhhm..need to think about it first. I could ask him but we are having our silent war again today. Dun feel like talking about it on the blog. For the sake of my parents, I will maintain the peace for now. But next week, he cant blame me if I do something drastic and 'disappear' to destress and not tell him about it! Yar! That is how geram I feel right now....

Leaving on a jet plane....
AND I also checked MAS for CNY ticket since AA still cannot book that far away yet. But MAS also can only book 1 yr in advance. So, I can only check the flight to go back Kuching from KL on 12 Feb. Still not too bad since the ticket is RM260 for 2 pax one way. Meaning that RM130 per pax?
So, I was thinking, if I am lucky enough that the ticket from Kch to KL is also RM260 for 2 pax one way, then that mean that return ticket for 2 pax is RM520. And since the company still owe me a one way ticket, then RM520 - RM130 = RM390 all inclusive! Not bad hor??? The plan is to go back Kuching on 12 Feb 2010 and back to KL on 20 Feb 2010. In total, we take 3days annual leave only since CNY falls on 14 Feb 2010 which is a Sunday!
This time, no matter what babe say, must go back for CNY! I miss having reunion dinner with my family and also visiting relatives and friends. Somehow, celebrating here is just not the same as being back in hometown. Dont CARE!! Babe say must go back for Christmas. I say must go back for CNY. So, fair right? Go back Christmas because of him and go back for CNY because of me. Any other time, we go vacation lar! Let me see, 3 days for CNY, Christmas might need 4 days, so total 7 days annual leave.
Am very excited thinking about this although it is still about one year away!!!

CNY Eve Gathering & CNY Day 1
So, on the eve of CNY, since we didn't go back to Kuching and my parents cancelled their plan to come over till next month, we decided to cook and invite the friends over for a gathering. As I said, my day on CNY eve started just before 7.30am and finally end at around 2am. I cooked what I planned, i.e. pork leg pak lor (soya sauce pork leg stew lar), mixed vege, mix pork soup, lamb stew, bake chicken with bacon, savoury prawn, fried fish (instead of steamed fish since I cant find any white prompet at the wet market) and half a roast duck (bought this from a coffee shop near the wet market) and of course, white rice (6 cups! :P)
Almost everything is gone except for some mix pork soup, pork leg (which I purposely cooked more), prawn and lamb. How many people were at the gathering? Let me do mental calculation, ermm...12 people with a few kids that is under 5 years old. That mean that everyone eat at least half cup of rice and I know I cooked enough for maybe 20 people? HAHAHA! I hope it is because everyone really enjoyed the food that was cooked that night.
Some of the dishes after we have eaten. I forgot to take the photos before we start eating. I think everyone was super hungry by then and cant wait to attack the food:)Babe and I went to bed at around 2am-ish. I think it was later than that because after everyone left and I finished cleaning up, both of us just sit around in the living room and laze around for awhile. CNY Day 1, I woke up at around 9.30am and started to prepare the ingredient to cook Sarawak Laksa. And also mix a batch of no-bake cheesecake and leave it in the fridge to chill. Also did the final ingredient for the chocolate cheesecake. (I know, wonder woman!!HAHAHA!! I still have time that day to go out with babe after cooking and preparing all the stuff to go look for ice cubes at 7-11 and Shell. Don't ask me how I did it. Everything is in a blur now...)
Laksa Gravy without the coconut milk. Since I cooked such large batch, decided to mix the coconut milk in separate pot according to how much to consume or else the gravy might spoil.
Beehoon blanched with hot water and cooled with tap water to prevent further cooking. This prevent the beehoon from becoming too soft
All in all, it has been a great 2 days. I am glad that we decided to go ahead with the gathering on CNY eve. Although I still miss my parents, brother and sister in Kuching and wonder how their CNY eve was like, at least this helps to reduce some of the homesickness. But it also makes me more determine that next CNY will be near my parents, either they come over to KL or we go back to Kch. Sigh! Miss them so much. Am looking forward to them coming here next month. Eiks! Need to clean up the spare bedroom!!! HAHAHA!

6 more days to go!
I am finally in CNY mood, abit lar. Just 6days away only. We bought some stuff already but mostly are titbits and cookies that babe and I want to eat. Let me see if I can remember what we bought. Happy nuts (pistachio nuts lar but we always call it happy nut, direct translation from Mandarin), peanuts (in case some of the guys want to drink beer or liquor and eat that), split beans, pineapple tart, peanut cookie, green bean cookie, ngaku (first time having this since I dont think Kuching have them. This are arrowhead crisps), choc chip cookies and few other types of titbits.
Am thinking to bake the steamed horlick cake, flourless chocolate cake (plan to use the rice cooker and try to bake it :P ) and no-bake cheesecake. Might even do the crispy seaweed but need to see have the time or not. Need to allocate and do abit of time management. Have to do spring cleaning especially the spare bedroom. Or maybe I will just keep that room under lock until after the cny? hhhmm..tempting tempting. Oh dont look at me that way! I need to prioritise mar! Still need to spring clean the apartment abit. Yesterday night we already took off the sofa cover, soak them in the washing machine for an hour with bleach and detergent. Now it is hanging outside in the balcony.
Then babe said this Friday want to wash all the floor mat. He can do that and I will vacuum and mop as usual. The apartment is more or less decorated and look more festive for the cny. One of the colleague gave me his old floor lamp. So gorgeous and looks perfect near the aquarium. Just need to go to the hardware store during lunch time to get a bulb for it. Babe was happy with the addition too although he is wondering how come I can get nice free stuff like that! He suspecting I buy ler.....Sheesh! MEN!
Mom keep asking if I want to go back for cny. Guess they are missing me because it will be the first year that their daughter not at home for cny. I know I am already missing them. Usually around this time, we would be busy decorating the house and buying more foodstuff. Mom told me yesterday that they will be having open house on Monday. Nothing grand lar, just cooked some food on top of the usual titbits and cookies. I am not planning much for next Monday and Tuesday. Plan to stay at home and catch up on sleep. Do a little blogging, watch astro, eat and sleep!
Might pursuade babe to go drive around KL since it should be pretty traffic-free. But then again, might be too lazy to do it. Sigh! This are one of those time that I wish we are married and living in Kuching. Then we can be near our parents. CNY eve can go to my parents place for reunion dinner, first day cny can go visit uncles and aunties. 2nd or 3rd day can go visit friends. Gosh! I better stop this or else I will end up in tears! Cant believe how much I will miss them especially during festive season. Next year MUST GO BACK! Must book ticket early.....

My Mom, My Dad, Being A Mom...
My mom, on the other hand, will have no qualm at all to load me with all her worries and burden. From the big thing such as being sick to the smallest thing such as bro not helping her with the housework. Secretly, I think she did this on purpose to make me feel guilty so that I move my butt back to Kch to work. Yah, my mom is naive in that way. I guess she never truly accepted the fact that I am a 30+ lady that will be getting married end of this year! Sincerely speaking, I am not sure how to communicate with her.
In fact, come to think of it, I never have good communication with my parents. Of course I do love them very much and care alot about them. But I just can't talk to them. I don't mean the normal talk-talk but rather a more heart-talk, if you know what I mean. I envy babe's family and relatives because it seems to me that the kids can say anything to their parents and not be worried at all. Open communication, that is the word that I am looking for.
Maybe it is the way my dad brought us up. I still remember when we were young, he will tell us not to interrupt the adults when they are talking (kids nowadays have no problem with interrupting and demanding what they want when their parents are talking which I find rather rude sometimes). Also, I remember we were ever told not to make too much noise when there are guests at home or something like that. I think my bro and I always have a healthy fear for our dad because he can be pretty strict. (Images of being punished for not doing homework - school bags being thrown out the door *gasp* and scolded and punished to look at the wall to contemplate my mistake *sigh*)
I hope that I will be able to have a more open communication with my kids, when I have kids lar. But at the same time, I want to bring my kids up to be responsible adults too. Meaning, I need to give them enough freedom to grow but also guidance to make sure that they turn out to be fantastic independent high achiever with great IQ and EQ! WoW! No babies yet and already the pressure on them..hhmm.....

Dare Devil and Me
As for me, the dare-devil-syndrome disappear silently without me realising it until I actually caught myself thinking about alot of what-ifs. For example, when listening to accidents reports on the radio on the way to work, the mention of motorcycle related accidents will make me send a prayer to heaven to keep babe safe. Kinda silly since I know that babe is a careful driver but then, those things cannot be predicted! Or if I do not get calls from my mom for a few days, I will start to worry and wonder if something happened. And if I do get calls from her at odd time, before I pick up the call, my heart will skip a beat and wonder if something has gone wrong.
I am not sure when all this what-ifs syndrome started. It seems to creep up on me slowly but surely. I don't even drive that fast anymore eventhough with the highways in KL, it is perfect place to let go and zoom all over the place. Instead, I will usually keep to about 100-120kmph at the most. For Kuching friends, just give you an idea how slow that is, those in KL will honked me if I drive like that on the most outer lane on the highway! Although I know my car is able to handle the speed and corners, I am just not comfortable driving at maniac speed whereby if I need to do emergency braking, then the car might slide or skid or worse, turn over.
See what I mean? My imagination is going wild again. When I was younger, my parents will always nagged at me and tell me to be careful and of course, for being a rebellious teenager, most of the time I will say "OK" and then proceed to do it anyways. I actually promised myself that I will not be this way with my future kids but of course, now that I am the grown up, I think I will be a nagger to my kids too! Well, at least I am better than babe! He was going to lock up the daughters in the house and no going out late at nights until they get married~!
Of course, I just had to asked him how about his sons? He said, sons are ok to do whatever they want as long as it is not against the law. After they finish their form 5, they can go out and come back at any time they want. Talk about being unfair huh? But I know where he is getting at especially with the society being so crazy nowadays. Imagine how scary it is when a snatch thief can jump over the fence of the house, tackle a old lady watering the plant in the garden to the ground and proceed to snatch her gold necklace off her and run off? Yup, that happened in Kuching, a supposedly peaceful place to retire to.
I heard that it has not gotten much better since I moved here. My parents are even seriously thinking about installing alarm and CCTV. I told them to install an auto-gate as well so that they dont have to get out of the car to open the gate. Only need to get out of the car when they are in the house with the gate firmly closed. Mom & Dad sounds reluctant and feels that the alarm and CCTV is sufficient. Thank god we moved to a place that is not consider high class or else I would have been more worried with the thieves targeting bungalows in high end areas.
I just hoped that when babe & I get our own place, we will be able to find somewhere that is relatively peaceful, low density and safe. Right now, looking at Subang, Kelana and Sri Damansara area. Still looking and not sure yet since the price are all beyond our budget of not more than RM700. Some looks promising in price but the location is not very convenient to get to LDP or NKVE for both of us to get to work. So, still sourcing. Hopefully can move by July or Aug the latest....

Tuesday Worse Than Monday Blues
Woke up at 6.15am so that I can be the first to hit the shower and get ready to leave the house for work around 7am-ish. Need to arrive at the office by 8am for our weekly Tuesday conference call with our HQ in US. I don’t do much during the meeting actually since I am not required to do any reporting at all. Instead, I am just required to sit in so that I can understand what is going on in the organization, something that is very essential for someone new in the company like me.
Talking of being new comer, today is officially my one month and 6th day of working here. Sounds short doesn’t it but it definitely feel much longer than that. It felt as if I have been working here for ages. I used to look forward to going to work everyday when I was in Kuching. Ermm, rephrase, before obi was promoted/transferred to be our section manager. Even then, it was not as bad because I know that my good friends are around. And anytime that I feel like taking a break, I will message one of them and ask if they want to go pantry or cafeteria.
Always look forward to lunch with the gals too because that is the time we catch up, gossip, laugh and talk about whatever that comes to our mind. We are so comfortable with each other that we tease each other without any hard feelings. Sometimes, we even share our worries and brainstorms solutions for our personal dilemma. Or if anyone of us is not in the mood to talk, then the others will fill in the void and the silent one can sit back and relax without being worried about how others will think about her. I miss them so much and thank goodness we are able to continue our friendship and chat online.
Today I am also feeling especially homesick. I miss my mom & dad very much. Even though I am glad to be independent but I realized that whenever I am feeling tired, worried or broke (haha!), I will be extremely homesick and feel like crying. Just this morning, while taking shower, I felt like crying my eyes out but with much self control, I stopped myself from doing that. I don’t want to make my babe worry about me. Guess we human are like that, when we have those that care about us near, we take them for granted. Then, when we can’t see them everyday, we miss them terribly!
Sorry if I am making you all depressed with my melancholic posting. I am feeling so depressed that I felt like ‘disappearing’ for a while and be on my own. I do this sometimes when I was in Kuching. I will bring my books and go somewhere on my own to take a break from everything. Usually, after a very expensive meal or shopping spree, I will feel much better. But here, I am not sure what I can do especially with my tight budget this month.
Yar, maybe it is because of money worries that compounded this feeling? I don’t know. I just wish it is payday already. Really had to stretch last month pay since I was ‘jobless’ for one week while moving from Kuching to KL and trying to settledown. The cost of moving here, settling down and so on really drain my budget. I guess I must really discipline myself (and babe) to have a tighter budget especially when we move to our own place later.
The one half month also passed in a blur for me. It felt like I am forever doing house chores, one after another. Laundry, ironing, cooking, cleaning, etc. I am feeling so tired and drained. I know I should just let it be if I don’t feel like doing it but I cannot tahan (stand) see all the things piling up. And I discover that I have a very strong guilty conscience.
For example, after I came back from work, extremely tired, but the housewife is cooking in the kitchen, as much as I felt like lying down in bed and not move till dinner time or something, I will put my bags down in the room and go to the kitchen to see what I can do to help. Although I have told myself many times (babe did too) that she should be able to understand that since I work fulltime, I am tired. But knowing how she is, I really doubt that eventhough she is the fulltime housewife. Also, I feel that she don’t actually need to cook for babe and myself at all. It is out of goodness (????) of her heart.
OK, I better stop here or else I will go on and on and on about how depressed and homesick I am today. Dear Friends (u know who u r), don’t worry. I will fine later. Adios!

Going to Burst Soon
There are black pepper lamb and normal marinated lamb too. The lamb are marinated and cut into about 3 x 3 inch each and they are really tender and yummy. It does not have those weird smell that sometimes lousy lamb meat tend to have. The beef, let me tell you about the beef. Slices just think enough to cook quickly on the hot pan but it is so tender and delicious that we just couldnt stop eating them. And next, of course there are prawn as big as babe's thumb, crabs, clam, fish, calamari, and a few other seafood.
Other yong tau foo such as fish balls, crabstick, assorted dumplings, glass noodles, seaweed and so on. You know, the usual stuff. There are chicken too and bishop nose. Dad commented that at least they clean the bishop nose properly, i.e. cutting off where need to be discarded. And guess what else they have? Pork! Three layer pork sliced thinly, pork chop, pork liver and other high cholestrol inerts of the pig. This is the first steamboat buffet in Kuching that is actually non-halal. Even hornbill which caters to foreigners is halal. So, BRAVO! Too bad babe is not here or else he would have concentrated on the lamb and pork!
Actually, the main reason that I am so full is because of mom! I only made two trips to the food counter to collect the food that I want in the portion that I know I can finish. But mom, she just couldnt resist taking more than she could handle. And so, end up, I had to help to mop up some of the beef and lamb. No, I am not giving myself excuse for eating so much till my stomach is so bloated that a simple slap on it will make me feel like bursting! Ok, so I could have just leave it there for her to handle but I feel like being nice. After all, I will be flying off in just 2 days time.....
Of course, the moment mom sees me start packing, she will start to show her sad teary face to me. She has accepted the fact that nothing can stop me from going to KL to work now but she dont have to be happy about it. In fact, she been bursting into tears at the most simplest stuff and I am really feeling so stressed up. But just thinking about my babe, I guess this is the sacrifice I need to make. I know that if mom/dad start to show me their teary face at the airport, I will start too~! Yar, despite all this, I know I will miss them miserably and be terribly homesick. Airasia has not lost my business eventhough I have moved over to be with my babe! In fact, I think they might have gained more business because of me because mom is already planning a trip to KL to visit me in the next few months!
So, am I happy? Of course I am. I will be with the man that I love so deary. Will I regret this relocation? I do not know yet but frankly speaking, I know that no matter what, I will always be able to see the positive side of things. I am a lucky gal actually because I have fantastic support from people around me. Look at my family and my good friends. I know I can always rely on them no matter what.

GROW UP!
Last night at home, a mini war happened between my dad and bro. Bro has been complaining of getting migraine in the morning and cant get up of bed. And hence, not able to go to work. Has been doing this pretty often to the extend that dad and mom are getting worried for his health. So, dad asked me to drive him to see the doctor lor last night after work. But hor, he hor, go shout at dad, I dont know say what lar, cant hear because I was in the living room. And then suddenly I heard something crashing like people shouting. Wah I really in shock lor.
Personally thinking, I would say my bro is being lazy lar about going to work. He been going out very often and usually come back 2-3am in the morning eventhough he had to wake up at 6am the next day to get ready for work. He has a group of friends that is constantly tempting him to go out for drinks, computer games and whatever else. I am not sure if those group of friends work or not but then, if he knows that he have to wake up early the next day, why in the world have so many late nights? Even dad is angry about that now. And he is not a young kid anymore. Already 28 years old and still acting immature!
Actually before this, he is the more responsible one compared to me. But after his gf broke up with him a few years ago, he started to change for the worse. I can only say one thing: GET OVER IT!! AND GROW UP! Geez! The world does not come to an end just because a girl left him. Yar, so he loved the girl very much and wanted to propose to her. But if the girl felt she is not interested, then bro, move on! Sometimes really so angry at him and want to voice out but dare not because my bro is a rather violent type and will just throw things. He pushed the tv off the rack once when he was arguing with mom. So yar, he need anger management!
When I am not in Kuching, he is the one that my parents will depend on to help them especially with my sister with special needs. I will be depending on him to take care of my parents and remind my workaholic dad to slow down. Yeah, I can hire a maid to help out with the housework and my sis, but he has to start to be responsible as well instead of just think of having fun and hide out in his room all the time. He is in his room so much that sometimes I dont even see him for a few days! Yah, it is THAT bad! Sigh...make me worried about my parents and sister nia.
