Rain Rain Go Away, Come Again Another Day

It is raining again here in Kuching this morning. In fact, I think it has been raining since yesterday evening. There is puddles of water everywhere and I don't even want to imagine what all those rain water mixed with mud is doing to my newly washed clean shiny car! The car that is shiny and clean because I just sent it for snow car wash yesterday as well as engine wash. Mother nature sure had me fooled by giving me false hope that because yesterday morning and afternoon was bright and sunshiney, it will be so throughout the day, or at least until I got myself home and park the car in the car porch. Oh well, at least the interior is super clean!

I actually went to town yesterday to pay my credit card bill as planned. Plenty of car everywhere but since I was not in a rush, I took my sweet time and enjoy the music while slowly inching towards my destination. Everywhere, I can see people trying really hard not to swear at the car cutting in front of them or at the sky for the consistent rain. The sky was already rather dark and gloomy at around 6-ish. Usually, it only get dark around 7pm in Kuching. (I know, in W. Msia, it is still bright until around 8pm).

Not many people at the bank though, so took care of the business rather quickly. Then I had to decide where to have my dinner. So many places goes through my head including My Restaurant for the Rib and Bacon, or even Blablabla for the Salmon with deepfried Manichai, or back to Kaya & Toast for their nasi lemak, or a new little place called Secret Garden Cafe along the Padungan stretch or...ok..enough of that! hahaha..

Anyway, in the end, I decided for something simple (and cheaper than other choices I was thinking of) and end up at Tun Jugah Food Court. There is a Korean/ Japanese stall there that serve some wonderful dishes at rather reasonable price. Whenever babe and I go there, I would head for that stall and babe will order his Nasi Briyani with mutton curry. There is another rather nice Malay stall that serve rice and sambal with either chicken, seafood and vege wrapped in little aluminum parcels. But be warned, it is rather spicy.

Last night I had the deep fried chicken fillet with rice. It is actually a set that cost RM9.90. Comes with a big bowl of rice topped with egg that is steamed on top of the rice. Plenty of yummy fried onions and nori stripes. Another bowl of miso soup and two slices of watermelon. Sometimes, when watermelon is not in season, they will substitute them with jellies. Enjoyed them so much that without realising it, I actually finish almost the whole big bowl of rice while reading my triller novel!

And yes, I went alone. It is something that I do when I need to de-stress or unwind. Some of my friends simply can understand how I can go out on my own for meals actually. I used to do that too when I was in College in Nilai. Take the ktm to Carrefour Subang and then get whatever groceries I need. Go sit at the nearest fastfood joint for hours. When I am back in Kuching and start dating babe, I did that less often as I can feel most relax when I am with him. But whenever we had a disagreement (which was really rare. I think in the eight years that we been dating, we had less than 10 major disagreements).

Anyway, that was a little me-time. Sitting at a little corner of a cafe or comfortable coffeeshop with my food and a good book. I dont mind categorising that as a small piece of heaven on earth. I got this feeling this might be something that I will be doing when I start in KL but not as a way to destress, rather a way to wait out the traffic jam!!! hahahaha...

  1. hehehe .. i will also go eat by myself if I'm stress or do something that could relieve my stress ...

sometimes, i'll just go shopping alone or go eat something nice. but when im not in the mood, appetite too is not there, usually i'll do something like getting an ear pierce or change my hair cut 360 degree ... (that explain the 4 ear pierce that I have on both ear) ... wonder why? well, when my ear is in pain, i forgotten all about what worries me .. too bad, those 4 ear pierce no pain at all
